Unless 'remediation' is to permit only process and not result, this is not an example of successful remediation. The 'embedded system', as a component of a larger system, must still be considered broken. This is because the problem can't easily be fixed at the local embedded system level, but only by considering the uses of the data collection process --- the end use of the info.

Now that the embedded systems are 'remediated', it is really a shame that they will not be able to transmit their wonderful 4 digits of year to the WAN controller. And, moreover, that the original alarm overrun condition will still exist even if 4 digits could be transmitted.

If a chance existed for legal action before they made the fix, don't send the lawyers on vacation just yet.
