Squirrel eat worms where you come from in Kansas because there are no nut trees. Similarly in the North they eat cones from evergreens.
Squirrels are an example of the dietaceous adaptibility of species.

Now I know there are no nuts in Kansas but in that am saying no tree nuts.

There are a plethora of the squirrely kind in clusters of habitation on the I95.
