Gary,

What is $TICKQ that you mention? Is it similar to #TICK?

Regarding SPU, that is the symbol for S&P futures, for the contract in September. The $INDU usually tracks (follows) the futures movement, so come consider it a leading indicator intraday.

I believe some are now following SPZ8 now, the contract for December. The "8" behind the symbol indicates the year, in this case, 1998. So, the Sept 1999 S&P futures contract symbol would be SPU9. The symbol changes quarterly, and "H" is for March, "M" is for June, "U" is for September, and "Z" is for December.

Gary,

SPU is the SP Futures contract. Current ticker is /SPU8.

BTW for some reason, I've never found either TICKQ (NASDAQ TICK) or ADVQ/DECLQ NASDAQ Advance-Decline that helpful and have stuck with the NYSE indicators (even though I don't trade that market anymore).
