xia qiu- Appreciate the flattery, who doesn't.(?) However, my comments to diana were based on just a few memories from maps I've seen of Mideast oilfields* and a bit of familiarity with geography. Commentary on the mind/actions/schemes of Saddam H. sounds to me like an exercise in minefield traverse. But I'd offer that he's opportunistic to a fault, reasonably broke, loves to play to what he perceives as good PR (for Islamic ears), closely watched by an American gov't. that could use a little diversion just prior to Congressional elections,....in short,...beats me, but I'll betcha' a quarter he's watching the situation. Doubt if he's delighted with the rise of Bin Laden as the 'Islamic-Firebrand- Du-Jour.' Strategist? I've been long the Oil Services sector for over a year! Strategy like that would get my butt shot off in a minor skirmish! There was a site linked here some time back, sorry I can't credit the provider, for a site with a name like Stratfor?? Might try searching for www.stratfor.com. or such? Lots of strategic stuff there; some needs a little salt (a definite political stance) but some very interesting observations there, too. Good luck.
