[Is Oliver related to Rilke?]

I don't know!!!

Reiner Rilke was a German poet, early 20th century. Also, he wrote one novel.

Mary Oliver won the 1992 National Book Award for Poetry. She received the Pulitzer Prize for poetry in 1984, according to the jacket cover on a collections of her poetry.

I believe she teaches at an American University. I do not know where she was born.

[If the Earth, with all it's burdens, can persevere and "whirl, and follow the sun," then so too can we.]

I am not so sure that the Earth "can persevere". I believe there is a very good chance that humans will destroy it, eventually.
