Returns are actually for a 10 year period, and are annualized. But, 8.8% per year is still not too great, considering the overall market was up 13.7% in the same period, according to Forbes.

All data through November 1997; ratings cover letters with a predominantly equity focus. Gains are annualized. *A number above 1.0 means portfolio beat the Wilshire in delivering results for risks taken.

Since I have retired three years ago I have been avg over 42%. I don't know if that is a fair comparison . I have been trading for over thirty five years and this is the best that I have ever done, I am having a good year this year but it does not compare to my previous years.

Hulbert (thru 6-30-98)showed Brinkers Aggressive Growth Mutual Fund Portfolio in his newsletter as

3 yrs 18.8%
5 yrs 16.6%
10 yrs 14.2%

The Long Term Growth Mutual Fd Portfolio was 18.7%, 15.7% and 13.9% for those time periods.

You must look at risk when you evaluate returns. Hulbert also reports their ranking of return based on their risk adjusted ratings. On these are expressed in percentiles. Brinkers aggressive portfolio was ranked 56.5 percentile for 3 yrs, 63.2 for 5 yrs, and 70.8 for 10 yrs. These were not the best, but were all in the upper half. Hulbert also rates a newsletter as to timing. In the timing rating category, Brinker was rated among the best by Hulbert.

I have listened to Bob for many years and admire him a lot. He is a great teacher and encourager. I guess he has done more to help people accumulate wealth than any other US citizen during the past two decades. My hat is off in salute to him.
