3,000 contracts of Dec 60 calls traded on Friday.

Looks like it was at a small premium. I'd say someone doesn't believe ASND will be acquired at 50, or will be trading at these levels for long.

Recall the prescient purchase of a large volume of Sept 40 put contracts several weeks ago. These large players are sometimes worth heeding.

<<I don't think it's a mistake or oversight that AT&T has not yet announced their huge purchases of ASND equipment already made this past quarter. They are loyal to Lucent (AT&T execs still hold lots of LU stock), and when they make the announcement they want to say it's LU equipment.>>

I agree on the AT&T loyalty. I have seen it evidenced for the last five years, including since the spinoff. Those guys worked together for decades, you can't just cut the cord. I have LU shares too via AT&T, which have split 2 for 1 since the spinoff and gone up like a rocket (but dipped a little lately).

Something else interesting Bucky, since I responded to you regarding AT&T and MCI (not an MCI commercial, just highlighting AT&T's past corporate attitude), we got a call from AT&T regarding a meeting and a desire to do a deal for an interesting rate. Coincidence ? Don't know all the details yet, but interesting. If they are loading up on ASND equipment, that is a plus !

If Ascend is to be acquired by LU come October - with presumably healthy premiums, why would most of ASND's senior managers unloaded
tens of thousands of their option shares in the July period?

Just curious! /JL
