Well SOROS... I'm still catching up on the thread, but this tidbit of Survivalist propaganda certainly caught my attention. I just love how people believe the "gov't" (whoever the gov't really is), would have the will or resources to confiscate the weapons of every citizen in the US, when they can't keep the illegal weapons off the streets as it is. And the BATF agents that raided (assaulted?) the B.Davidians in Waco were, in fact, trained by SF personnel. In fact, the SF advisors were supposed to have been in the area when the raid went down, but I understand that a superior nixed that as a violation of Posse Comitatus. I can also tell you that the National Guard is a state militia, subject to Federal call-up. The only way that NG units can be utilized outside of a state of emergency, is for the purpose of supporting counter-drug activities by Federal and State agencies. In fact, the military equipment that the Texas NG provided to BATF before the Waco raid was requested under the false pretext that the BD's possessed narcotics. Some zealous, but ill-advised NG officer at NGB authorized the use of the equipment. He was one p*ssed off individual and felt seriously USED by the Feds over that incident. What I'm trying to say is that it is one thing to declare martial law, but if you lack the tacit support of the overall citizenry, forget about popular support for the "cause". Short of a global war or domestic insurrection, you'll likely never see such authority exercised. Regards, Ron
