Greg,
Hi!!! << The lead time on the 350 was 4 weeks, the longest yet of the four computers I have bought from DELL. I'm sure this means DELL is busy. Of course they say four weeks, as always a expect it to be less, as it has been in the past.>>

Now, I can imagine someone smirking at this statement...especially if they are a naysayer....well, who cares...but, I'd just like to add that of recent I have had numerous messages from this thread where individuals are eluding to basically the same scenario at Dell..."industry growth rate"....."far exceeding"....."very promising"....and on and on...If one is of the opinion that Dell's market share will increase due to the virtual integration it is not hard to imagine...Perhaps then just a lot of speculation right?? No!! Not if you have followed Dell in the past....for some reason when they are bogged down the news just seems to seep out to this thread...IMO the third qt.will harbinger an incredible tell tale of things to come...Let us also remember that there are a number of new factors to be included in this quarter...things we should all keep in mind that will not really surprise anyone...

DELL SAID IT WILL START SELLING STORAGE SYSTEMS TO SUPPORT ITS SERVERS, STARTING WITH THE POWER VAULT 650F. HOWEVER DELL SAYS ITS OFFERING SYSTEMS START AT $15,000 WHICH THE COMPANY ESTIMATES IS ABOUT 50% LESS THAN CURRENT MARKET OFFERINGS.
DELL EXECUTIVES SAY THE COMPANY'S DIRECT MODEL AND LOW CAPITAL EXPENSES HELP IT OFFER GREATER SAVINGS ON ENTERPRISE-CLASS PRODUCTS. "DELL IS BRINGING THE EFFICIENT VALUE-PRICED MODEL TO THE ENTERPRISE MARKET, " SAID MIKE LAMBERT, SENIOR VP OF DELL'S ENTERPRISE SYSTEMS GROUP. "I SUSPECT INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY MANAGERS WILL RAPIDLY SEE THEY'VE BEEN OVERCHARGED FOR THESE PRODUCTS IN THE PAST."

During the briefing after the tour of Metric 12...I asked Robert Williams this question: "will the storage data systems still be shipped during September?"......He smiled and said: "Yes" ......Dell always has a way of surprising us....

Best, kemble

Where the 4 weeks lead time come from? I ordered 2 systems (350 for my college bound daughter and 450 for myself) on 9/2 and guess what? They shipped the very next day.
