Yap ,Yap,Yap goes the same old debate. I have argued With Tero to no avail. I have taken the battle to the Nokia thread were Tero dishes his propaganda to all to hear. He is a little more careful here then there. He knows we will call his opinions as such. After listening to his mutable argument grow like a chameleon in changing seasons, I have decided that he is best ignored. He isn't savvy enough to realize CDMA will be the best thing to happen to NOKIA. If he is not insightful enough to see how much CDMA is going to the bottomline at Nokia, It is futile for him to see its benefits to Qcom. When, not If, Cdma migrates to Europe and China Nokia will be in almost an equal position to Qcom having being the 1st major manufacturer to build CDMA alongside the mighty Q. The experience it has gained and advantage over Erickson is irreparable already. Why did Nokia migrate so fast to CDMA tero? According to you it is less advantageous then GSM? Your 1st love can recognize the potential yet you refuse. Nokia's recent successes have had as much to do with MOTANIC and ERICSHIt's refusal to adopt CDMA quickly, as the 6160's sales. I would think that going forward the same would apply to WCDMA and CDMA2000. But enough about TERO, here are some facts: 1)WCDMA is a theory it doesn't exist as a working standard. It will take years in court and of engineers struggling to develop circumvents around IPR's. In the meantime CDMA2000 will be rolled out all over the world. I would also assume that QCOM is also working on an overlay of GSM. I would bet my money on Qcom over Ericy or Nokia. I tend to side with American ingenuity. Ill use history to support that ideal. 2)The United States Government loves to pick trade fights. They are politically popular. They show US congressmen fighting for American interests. Having Brent Scrowcraft as a shareholder doesn't hurt either. 3)In the meanwhile as a stock Qcom's growth will continue for several years irrespective of 3G or any political nonsense. We will be starting new systems, building new factories, and launching new satellites. We are growing at minimum this year at 30-40% and the end is nowhere in sight. We will meet and greet all earnings estimates. This despite the carnage taking place in the third world. 4) If in some far sided scenario Qcom losses 3G debate and patent fights QCOM will still be a leader in CDMA chip and handset manufacturing. The fact that the whole world market will be open, as well as existing contractual partners will support strong growth anyway. 5) On this Labor day I say relax. The plan is running smoothly, and soon we will reach are destination. However do yourself a favor ignore TERO
