The Democrats are very close to a consensus that he must go in my opinion. They are not willing to go before an electorate in November with this matter unresolved because most are coming to the conclusion that they will take a nasty drubbing at the polls. That was the significance of Lieberman's speech, with support from Moynihan and Kerrey.
