RE: IBM Microdrive

I see this product failing right alongside Iomega's Vapor! The race is already won in this niche. And it is safe, rugged Flash Technology that has won the battle already. With the disc drives, there us always the possibility of damage to read/write heads and discs while in use. And due to Iomega Vapor!'s unsealed environment, dust contamination will be a major problem.

The IBM drive is a failure waiting to happen, as is Iomega' Vapor!

>>IBM "microdrive" to compete with clik!...This is not good news.<<

But IBM wasn't brave enough to offer the really poignant news:

"...However, McIntyre [director of strategic marketing for IBM's Storage Systems Division, San Jose] declined to disclose the estimated pricing and power consumption.

Pete, the IBM mini drive has a fixed disk, whereas Click! has a
removable cartridge. Both are gambles, unless you prefer to
believe the unmentionable one, who has already said both are
doomed. :)
