It would appear that many "small-caps" are in the Missouri posture..."Show Me!!" It is not so much a presence of negatives as an absence of positives...There have been none of the kinds of things a buyer/fund would look for...Aggressive management heavily incented by future capital gains rather than fat salaries; consistent track record of high earnings growth; accretive acquisitions...Why should someone buy??...While it is nice to know that there is a solid balance sheet, this is only one of the many ingredients that someone would look for with regard to future value; The theory says that the present value of the stock is the stream of discounted future cash flows....and I guess the market doesn't feel it is much more than its current value. New information is needed to change that valuation (i.e. signs of higher earnings, stability of earnings growth, desire of management to create shareholder wealth and not just management wealth from fat salaries etc.)

I suspect that the big burst over the past few days results from the realization that this will be a good quarter. Let's hope that turns out to be the case. The other explanation is that one or more new large investors have discovered this stock.
