I for one think selling covered calls is great idea. I bought 100 Dell at 117 13/16 after earnings. I immediately sold one SEP 120 contract for $750. If Dell is below 120 on expiration, that will be fine with me. I'll happily sell some October calls. I get to lower my risk and have the potential of making very signifcant percentage gains in a relatively short time frame. Of course, your stock has to cooperate by not cratering, but I don't think I have to worry too much about Dell. I sleep better at night by selling covered calls.
