Digitcom Links St. Petersburg, Moscow and Rostov-On-Don for Internet Long Distance Calling SANTA MONICA, Calif., Sept. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Digitcom Corporation (OTC Bulletin Board: DGIV - news) announced the successful culmination of field trials of Digitcom's IntraVoice CO(TM) Internet long distance telephone gateway done in conjunction with the St. Petersburg National International Telephone and Electrosvyaz (Rostov Region) telephone companies. ''This clears the way for the launch of long distance telephone services using Internet Protocol networks between Russia's largest commercial centers,'' said Jimmy Chin, Digitcom CEO. Digitcom will share in revenue generated by IP network routing of inter-regional telephone traffic in joint venture with the Russian companies. St. Petersburg National International Telephone and Electrosvyaz-Rostov together serve 7.8 Million customers within Russia. Russian domestic long distance revenues reached US $8.2 Billion in 1997, while international long distance calling generated $1.5 Billion. Great article. Very objective. I disagree with the final point, but I believe it raises some of the same questions I had last June. 1- The financials have not been disclosed, that I am aware of. Its hard to invest without knowing what the return is. 2- The technical aspects of the company aren't as difficult as the legal aspects. I believe they can achieve technical results but will fail from a regulatory standpoint. They are bypassing the long distance carriers and not paying their dues to the locals as the Bell South white paper addresses. I got out at 6.25 after I decided that the potential for a scam was too high.
