Bill,

I write TA but not PCI or AGP <g>.

I have similar issues with my GTW PII400 and ATI AGP card. Your AGP card will become secondary if your BIOS doesn't support the switch the other poster was discussing. The odds are against it but ask DELL. Maybe you're OK.

PCI cards are cheap. Depends on whether or not you care about the 3D accelerator (play 3D games, etc). You can spend 50-75 on a 64bit S3 design that's standard. If primary, you'll need to run the big monitor on it. A 64 bit will do OK.

If you care about the acceleration, etc go with a 128mb or more board that contains a Voodoo chipset. Believe there is a new generation of these coming out this week, in fact. I'll be checking the prices before I decide what to get. The older Voodoos are 100-175 range now.

If you note from the PC dream thread, Matrox is very popular for this.

Bill,

My new monitor showed today. I went to CPU and bought a new STB PCI card (a snazzy 128mb w/3d acceleration.). I installed it in a PCI slot. The system recognized it when I turned it on and moved all display functions to it. The AGP connected monitor stayed black.

The Device Manager had a message that the ATI/AGP drivers didn't support multi-monitors. I went to ATI's site and got a new win98 driver, loaded it and both monitors clicked on after setting properties in DISPLAY.

Loaded Real Tick and it all works as hoped.
