[dt] hi shlomi 35k lines minimum... ;) nice to get the news, maybe now the h&q conference will have a little spice.. --- found three items in the orctf press release: biz.yahoo.com particularly interesting: - fujitsu is the major orctf partner... (as opposed to lu) and fujitsu felt strongly enuf about the contract to include remarks by an executive vp: ...''We see Deutsche Telekom as an important strategic customer, and we have invested great effort to offer systems that answer Deutsche Telekom's needs,'' said Dr. Kazuo Murano, Member of the Board and Group Executive Vice President of the Telecommunication Network Systems Group of Fujitsu Limited . ''This joint achievement with Orckit further strengthens our long term strategic alliance.'' ... - fsan network architecture was specifically mentioned with next generation orctf/fujitsu integrated products addressing this market : "...The FastInternet can migrate into the Full Service Access Network (FSAN) architecture required by Deutsche Telekom. Fujitsu, a leader in the field of fiber optic equipment, will integrate FastInternet into its Optical Line Terminations (OLTs) and Optical Network Units (ONUs) for this future architecture... " a subplot here would seem to be vdsl.. a potential biggie for dt and a fsan big deal... with one quarter of this adsl contract reportedly going to siemens, if the players remain the same for dt vdsl, orctf vdsl, would be included in (at least) two of three contenders.. as orctf is siemens vdsl partner... - network management has been addressed with orctf management systems integrated with dt's... would think this could be a big deal in going after other atm based adsl tenders as well as more work with dt: "...The FastInternet DSLAM system will be centrally managed by Deutsche Telekom's NSU Enterprise Network Management System (NMS). Orckit is supplying the FastInternet NMS agent -- the controller that enables the DSLAM system to be remotely software-managed -- with standard and private MIBs (Management Information Bases) that are supported by and interoperable with Deutsche Telekom's NSU system. These MIBs are like ''translators'' that enable the FastInternet system to ''converse'' with Deutsche Telekom's current network. This development enables the FastInternet DSLAM and ADSL to interoperate with Deutsche Telekom's existing network management, for easy integration of billing, service, maintenance, and other functions. This has the added benefit that the operator does not have to invest in a separate DSL-only management system, which can be costly in terms of time and resources... " --- do you have any sense of how the eci/tadiran merger could impact orctf? any news from the conference? best wishes s
