Arnold,
"even if they are broke we will be able to watch them reemerge as an economical strong society. ..This time it shouldn't be nearly as difficult as what they have achieved post world war two!"
Their problem this time is in some ways even harder than after WW2--they are fighting demographics. Low birth rates combined with a rapidly aging society combined with low immigration and a society that is xenophobic combined with an increasingly competitive world. This combination doesn't bode well for them if indeed, as some of us increasingly suspect, they are indeed broke from far too many bad loans and far too many GIC promises.

The Greeks live. The Gods punish a whole society when their leaders--political and economic-- develop hybris. They don't distinguish between leaders and followers.
