I suppose your referring to the fat Jolly Buddha, what about the emancipated one, are you familiar with him as well?

All the Buddhas are liberated (emancipated), even the fat Jolly Buddha. There's only been one Buddha during the recent historical past, although the Buddha can take on many aspects.

I'm not sure what you're referring to when you talk about hiding from the light of God in order to teach. Most Buddhists don't comment about God one way or the other. As it's been explained to me, if God really exists, God is so far beyond our intellectual comprehension that talking about God would be a mistake. Instead of talking about God, we'd be talking about our own personal concepts of God. These are not the same.
