Not so strange considering the situation here. A piece of "news" that was heard the other night, which I must say I have to agree with, is that Anwar has something really good on the Mad Hatter. (I love that name!)

I've said ever since I started seeing Anwar on the international news shows, CNBC Asia - Singapore, CNN Asia Nightly news - Hong Kong, and this morning a live interview on CNN Money Line, that to still be a free man he's got to have something on someone.

I believe that Stitch will agree, that this is the greatest amount of "open" dissent I have ever seen in Malaysia.

Of the Malaysians I have spoken with there is a conviction (90%+) that the allegations are all b........, but you still don't mess with the MH.

Time will tell if his power base is as broad as he believes it is, maybe with the tycoons, but I don't believe the 'people' are listening to the rhetoric. The political hacks are all lined up behind him but that's to preserve the status quo of the good ole boy network.

Speaking of which, (good ole boys) the word is that the class of whatever year Anwar graduated is solidly behind him. These guys make up some of the most influencial folks here. Apparently he went to a prestigious prep school and then on to University of Malaya (?) and was considered to be quite conservative, very religious and politically astute (comments from a classmate on Saturday night). "This whole scenario is just not him".

Well the first competition of the games has started today (badminton) and all the foreign press is in town so the next few days will be fun to say the least.
