This is a welcome to SI thread, not a what can I do for YOU today thread. Its a bonus when you get a direct answer, not a shortcoming when you don't.

IMHO
Reaspectfully

"I asked the question(on this thread, addressed to Brad) 3 or more months ago, and it didn't get answered either."

:) i think we'll get an answer this time. i emailed jill per buffalo, er, system administrator bob's suggestion. and if we don't get an answer...we'll make general nuisances of ourselves!! (which should be pretty easy, i have a lot of practice <GG>)

i think it's dumb to have a clear all messages button, but not one for individually bookmarked threads. period.

August,

Sorry I've been absent from the thread lately. I've been working with Jeff (and others here) on an SI re-design (don't worry, the discussion areas won't change significantly). I have been reading the discussion, but I have been hesitant to jump in recently, as it has a way of sucking me in (and away from my other projects).

To answer your/Mark's question

> how about a feature allowing users to clear messages on individual
> threads, rather than on all bookmarks at once?

I guess I don't really understand what exactly you're looking for. The way I always do this is click on the red (new) link, and then hit the back button on the browser. I think you're asking for another link besides "remove bookmark" that says something like "clear count?" The problem I see with this approach is that it
1) Adds more complexity
2) Forces the page to reload and scroll back up to the top.

How would that be an improvement over the click once and back up method?

Regards,

Brad

It did get answered, I think by David.

"Click on the quantity of new posts and immediately click on Stop."

Stop is better than Back because you stay on the Bookmark page. However, the deletion doesn't appear until you leave the Bookmark page and return later, so don't be concerned that it looks as if the technique didn't work.
