nice little article about ROSS in Information Week; perhaps more significant for the fact that ROSS is getting covered at that level than in what it says.

Ross Systems Buys Services Firm
Karen M. Carrillo

Ross Systems Inc., (ROSS-Nasdaq) a midtier vendor of enterprise resource planning software, last week bought one of its business partners, professional services firm HiPoint Systems Corp., for about $1.9 million in stock.

Ross wants to expand its customer-support capabilities. "The demand for consulting work is exceeding our ability to supply it," says Dennis Vohs, president of Ross. "We've spent about $2.5 million this year to subcontract work, up from $1 million last year. Now, we can offer more integrated software and services."

David Caruso, director of enterprise applications for AMR Research, sees the acquisition as a good move by Ross. Says Caruso, "Quality services in the ERP space are really key for sales to midrange clients." Ross also bought Bizware Corp. in January for $2 million.
