Mon 14 Sept 98 Company Review
Mr. John Alston reviews the company
During the second quarter of 1998 exploration work continued on the
Suriname properties. On the Brokopondo permit the initial portion of a
stream sediment sampling program, carried out over a 20 kilometre length of
the volcanic belt, has returned a series of gold anomalies. These anomalies
are coincident with a mafic/ultramafic volcanic horizon, which forms the
north-south topographic high in the area. Thus the volcanic horizon is
interpreted as the source of the anomalies.
The strongest anomalous zone extends over an area of eight square
kilometres with 23 samples returning from 110 to 25,800 ppb gold, in
contrast to a mean background value of 19 ppb.
Savanna is preparing to cut a grid over the anomalous zone in preparation
for a ground geophysical survey. In addition the stream sediment sampling
program will be expanded to encompass all of the greenstone belt that
occurs on the property.
On the Lawa permit initial results of a test pitting and bulk sampling
program in the southwest corner confirm the presence of gold in the
alluvial gravels running 0.5 up to 4.2 grams per cubic metre. Although the
potential for large scale alluvial mining was considered limited, the
almost ubiquitous occurrence of particulate gold throughout the area and in
different strata within the sedimentary sequence may be indicative of
widespread gold mineralization in the bedrock.
Based on this observation, Savanna is now concentrating exploration efforts
towards the bedrock potential and is currently exploring the Central zone,
where the UN reported some of the highest panned and bedrock samples of its
Suriname survey.

Hello Colin,

In a more favourable gold market,"2.3 ounces gold per ton across 3 M", would have a better effect on the price of SV. There appears to be gold all over the alluvials, in addition to high grade bedrock in at least 2 different locations 6 kilometres apart. The potential for several deposits in between seems quite likely.

All you need is 2 grams per tonne over 1/3 kilometre by 1/3 kilometre, and a depth of 40 metres, and you have a million ounce deposit.

Based upon these dimensions, Lawa may hold several million ounces. SV definitely has to continue exploring this project.
