Hi greentree... You note: Based on Barron's regularly published data, there has been an unusually large short position in SMU shares over time. Surely some are short against their own convertible positions, so they are covered already. I'm interested in what the outstanding balance of short interest (less the convertibles) is to get a feel for what needs to be covered. I can do the math, but wanted to know if someone had already done it. _________________________________________________________________ I do believe you have missed my point. Brokerage records are private. There is no legal way you can determine what the debenture offset is against common short positions short of doing something illegal, such as bribing margin clerks. That procedure is not recommended, as it involves the risk of jail time, both for you and the margin clerk. So, there is no possible legal way for the rest of us to have determined the information you need. I guess, as you have noted, that you can determine it on your own assuming no one else has already completed the "computations".
