The British Telecom deal should give ODIS significant strength in crushing the old IT paradigm. Managing the 800 and 900 call centers for BT is as mission critical as mission critical gets. Winning Dell's ecommerce web site. what a lift for the sales force.
I also understand that ODIS is the front page article on the cover of Infoweek this week. I don't subscribe so when someone has a copy can they please let us know how good the article is.
In addition, I spoke to a money manager who says that investor relations is improving and one or more companies should be initiating coverage of ODIS soon.
We all may be a little early, but the pendulum is definitely swinging our way.

BT is not the only company that uses Oracle and ObjectStore. Australia's largest telco does the same. I think it's becoming blindingly obvious that Object Design can make very big dollars in the telco industry over the next few years.

Embedded ObjectStore Soon Available at a HiFi/Video Store near You!

TuneBase is a family of innovative products that allow visual cataloging, selection, and control of your entire CD collection, setting the standard for ease of use and flexibility. These products were developed in response to a growing consumer need for greater ability to manage their home entertainment Systems as new and more sophisticated technologies continue to emerge.
Many people today have hundreds and even thousands of CDs in their personal collections, to which the consumer hardware manufacturers in the audio/video industry responded with high-capacity CD changers.
With the creation of these multi- and mega-disc changers, a new user requirement came about. Since compact discs would now permanently reside in slots in a multi-disc changer rather than in individual, identifiable cases, a user could no longer easily locate and enjoy their music. These new CD changers required an intuitive user interface that allowed customers to play specific titles, tracks, or types of music.
Enter Escient with the ultimate CD management system: TuneBase. Each of four TuneBase configurations targets ease of use and installation, reliability, affordability, and simplicity of control.
TuneBase products all consist of a controller, wireless interfaces, and a powerful graphical user interface. In addition, all TuneBase products utilize Escient's IntelligentLink technology with Autobuild, so there is little need for data entry of CDs or manual updating. IntelligentLink enables our software to read and automatically identify the CDs in a changer and match them to the cover art. Escient has created and maintains a master database of more than 210,000 text records and the artwork of more than 30,000 CD covers. As new records are added, updates may be obtained via a normal phone line connection to the Escient server.
With TuneBase, every CD is at your fingertips at any time. You can easily scroll through the CD covers on a normal TV display, and can select from and control your entire collection. Choosing a CD is now as easy as changing a channel on your TV. TuneBase also organizes music by style, so if you are in the mood for blues, you can have the blues play for as long as you want.
TuneBase creates and saves playlists, so your entire evening's music can be pre-planned and then started as soon as your first guest arrives. Or, if you invite a crowd that wants to have some fun playing "disc jockey," TuneBase gives them the opportunity to sift through all the music and select their own personal favorites. No entertainment hassles. Just easy access and pure enjoyment.
Let Escient manage what you don't have the time or patience to sort through. Our products provide a bridge between technology and people, transforming the increasingly complex options of entertainment and information into solutions that simplify the fun part of life.
