Anyone - I have a problem with 'freeze up'. This only occurs precisely when I click off the net & only occasionally.

Have asked at my computer shop & they can't give an answer. I realize this is more of a technical problem so just hoping someone here may have heard of this. Using Win 95, ntscp 4.

Have you checked your security settings?
That is the only thing I can think of.

You would not believe how much this thread
has helped me. And IT IS FREE!.

Carole, I would suggest a workaround: don't close the browser
windows before disconnecting from your ISP. This has other
advantages, too. You can now read one or more web pages while
disconnected. I do this all the time.

If you insist in dropping the sound try going to START|SETTINGS|CONTROL PANEL
(I assume you have Win95), select SOUNDS by double clicking.
You'll see a window with EVENT. Highlight the event CLOSE PROGRAM
by clicking once. In a box below you'll see what sound is associated
with CLOSE PROGRAM. Change this to NONE.

Hope this works.

Carole,
Had the same problem when I close down the programs to rapidly. Give a few moments for each to complete it's shutdown.
Found a easier way, save all your work then reboot the computer! I do this everyday.
AOL users hint.... run quote.com as a background program, you'll never see "Do you want to stay online" again.
