Chaz -

It disturbs me that Linus is now working at a company funded or connected somehow with MSFT

Transmeta's holding things so close to the vest, I don't know that anybody not connected with them in some official way could really say. I'd be surprised, though, to find that Linus has 'sold out' or anything. Having read some of his stuff, and talked to people that have had personal dealings with him, I'd be hugely surprised. I've got some friends that are pretty close to Linus (not Transmeta), so I'll ask some questions.

While Linux could hold out and survive without Linus, I don't think it would be pretty. Then again, FreeBSD can run Linux binaries, and the FBSD developers do a kick-ass job.

Linux now being the prime competition for NT, in my view, this is of some immediate concern.

You're not the only one with this view, BTW, there's pushing 8 million others out there ...
