Alex, keep her away from those gears!!! Drawers require those plastic little clips. It's a real pain to put them on every drawer in the house though. What we did was segregate the drawers and move anything breakable and dangerous into safety clipped drawers.

Scissors, pencils, pens, and womans stuff are a nightmare! (you know like perfume and goop and lipstick and junk.)

Three things toddlers love to play with.

1. Water
2. Bubbles
3. Sand

Have enough around in safe locations and she will leave the important stuff alone. Well maybe....:-)

Alex,

Our response was to put shelves up everywhere, and elevate everything. Which is probably why the kids climb so well.

A sandbox is a great thing to have, except that furry critters often use it as a depository for unwanted souvenirs. Colorful inflatable balls, small beach-balls and the like, are always good distractions for crawlers, who enjoy following them around.

The first toddler is a small problem compare to the second, in my experience at least. Joey would play with whatever we gave him. Jenny is convinced that whatever big brother likes must be more fun then what she's got, and pursues his toys, books, etc. with a monomaniacal intensity. This leads to occasional disruption, to put it mildly.

When Joey was about 1 1/2, we were out walking in the neighborhood, and were invited in to a new neighbor's housewarming (first time we'd met). Somebody offered him a stuffed toy, which he grabbed by the ear and threw with unerring accuracy into a tray of wine glasses.

It's a good thing they're cute.
