Customers Benefit from Integration of VeriSign OnSite 4.0 with SAP R/3 System Applications

VRSN , the leading provider of public key infrastructure (PKI) and digital certificate solutions, and SECUDE GmbH, the leading security provider for SAP's R/3 System business application suite, today announced two product integration initiatives that enable enterprise customers to leverage VeriSign's digital certificate technology to secure their SAP R/3 Systems. Available immediately, customers of SAP's R/3 System can now deploy VeriSign OnSite 4.0, the worlds first integrated PKI platform, to secure R/3 System applications -- including human resource systems, financial accounting, supply chain management, and enterprise resource planning. Beginning in Q4, 1998, SAP customers will also be able to take advantage of a new centralized digital certificate management functionality integrated directly within their familiar R/3 System applications. As a result, enterprises will be able to easily and seamlessly view and manage end users' digital certificates through a common interface within the R/3 applications -- benefits unattainable with proprietary, component PKI software.
To provide this extended digital certificate security functionality to SAP's thousands of enterprise customers, this new solution will allow for the integration of VeriSign OnSite 4.0 directly into the R/3 management system so customers can continue to work within their existing application environment. This best-of-breed solution makes it easy for customers to continue to utilize the industry's leading enterprise management system for business-critical applications while enjoying the security benefits of advanced digital certificate technology.

SAP customers using the R/3 System's HR applications, for example, currently utilize user-name/passwords to control user access to these applications.
