Agreed Charles, I think it's nothing but up from here. We sure have taken a beating though....It may take awhile to get it all back.

Regards, Dave

Charles,

[snip]
Together Lucent and Voclf will control 40% of the emerging market by end 98.And over 60% by end of 99.

Can you provide any insight into how you arrived at your forecast here? As near I as I can tell, Ascend is getting the bulk of the DT deal with Voclf getting the client piece, in which there is no money these days. Even if they get a gatekeeper or two out of the deal (and get the 200,000 asking price), in terms of market share numbers voclf will be small. Gateways at $500/port is where the market share will be.

Also, I see Lucent closing very little business with the stuff they have now. Don't believe I have seen them win a single 10,000 port deal. Do you have insight that you can share with us? If your answer is ITXC, then you probably need to count the number of gateways they have deployed because it is not many.

voclf has bet the farm on the H.323 Gatekeeper Routed Call model and technology. With people like Level 3 coming out and declaring H.323 to be broken beyond repair and forming a working group to develop IPDC, if I were voclf, I wouldn't count my marketshare numbers just yet.
