The Fed will move to stimulate the economy; not the market. Regardless of DOW 9000, the Fed will lower rates if they believe the economy is in danger of entering a recession.

We may hit DOW 9000 again this year, but it will be under the premise of a rate cut (which will in turn, stimulate earnings growth and justify higher multiples).

No rate cut and/or earnings slow-down = downward pressure on stocks
