Kemble: I am starting to believe that "DELL is the next DELL." I was just reviewing some things in the Gartner website for work. Gartner Group (one of the leading technology consulting firms) has some excellent analysts and often they seem to be quite objective. I just happened to come across an article they did earlier this year on the PC channels. Here are some of their insights and I believe that they are all still valid:

"As we have discussed before, we do not believe that Dell's stellar growth rate during the past several years has been based exclusively on a pricing advantage. We believe it also has done an excellent job in managing account relationships and handling the overall quality of the customer relationship.

Going forward, we expect electronically based procurement systems to become increasingly important in the relationship between resellers and corporations. We believe resellers must work to improve their product-procurement systems and the sales interface they present to their clients. We also believe that resellers must demonstrate superior customer support relative to the perceived level of Dell's sales and customer support if they hope to regain the market share and product sales lost to Dell in recent years.".....

Hmmmmm.....We know that DELL is a pioneer in internet commerce and a leader in developing very strong customer relationships. Michael Dell is always good at "raising the bar" and taking DELL to the next level of performance (just as the competitors are feeling that they are starting to catch up). No other global PC and IT firm executes better than DELL and I don't expect that to change in the next few years. I guess we may have many good reasons to NEVER SELL our DELL shares and be thankful that "DELL is the next DELL."
