OT - To make everyone happy, I am scheduling 2 separate chats for today's launch. One at the loral faq club - clubs.yahoo.com, and the other over on AOL in room "Loral Space Chat".

I will break the rules of physics and be in both chats simultaneously. Don't worry how its done, its a black budget thing.

Look forward to chatting. I'll be in both rooms starting at 1:30 PM EST. Launch is window is until 4:30 PM EST or so, correct?

Later,
geoff

Thomas:

I do not know exactly who the other bidders were, but if I remember correctly, I think Hughes was one of them. I would imagine the others were the likely suspects--Titan, Scientific Atlanta, Gilat, STM, etc. As for the telephony partnerships, they are still up in the air as to exactly what they will be. I have heard everything from ViaSat licensing its technology(i.e. PCMA)and collecting royalties, to making terminals, to being investors in a complete sat/ground solution, to the ultimate partnership(an acquisition). I think that is what is being worked out right now. The best moves on the stock have come when the takeover talk has been at its loudest. In regards to the balance sheet--a thing of beauty! Minimal debt, plenty of cash. By the way, they are not experiencing any storm---the defense work has been a godsend.
