A product like that competes head-on against flash.

A product like that has only one target market: portable devices.

They seem to have omitted any shock-tolerance data or specification from the press release. I'd say that's a pretty important variable for portable devices. Flash memory obviously scores well in this area, I'll wager you can drop a flash device from a 10 foot height repeatedly without data loss. With a spin speed of 4500 RPM my guess is you can't drop the microdrive too many times.

They ALSO seem to have omitted any power consumption specification. As a mechanical device it's a nearly sure bet the microdrive eats a LOT more power than a flash ram ...
