Serial sex life of RFK is revealed By Philip Delves Broughton in New York External Links Historians debate Robert Kennedy's legacy [6 June '98] - CJ Online Robert Francis Kennedy biography - The Society for a Newer World Romantically linked: Marilyn Monroe [lists Monroe's lovers and mentions relationship with Robert Kennedy] - Mr Showbiz Romantically linked: Rudolf Nureyev - Mr Showbiz ROBERT Kennedy had sexual relationships with Jackie Kennedy, the widow of his brother President John F Kennedy, Rudolf Nureyev, the ballet dancer, and a number of young campaign workers, according to a new biography of the assassinated United States attorney-general. If the allegations are to be believed, then President Clinton, a great admirer of the Kennedys, is a sexual ingŠnu by comparison. The author of RFK: A Candid Biography, C David Heymann, also alleges that Bobby Kennedy was the real lover of Mary Jo Kopechne, the woman who died in Teddy Kennedy's car when he drove off the bridge at Chappaquidick. Among RFK's other lovers, according to Heymann, were Candice Bergen, Kim Novak, Jayne Mansfield and, of course, Marilyn Monroe. In at least one instance, he writes, all three Kennedys had sex in the same hotel suite at the same time, one with a blonde, one with a brunette and one with a redhead. In his chapter on Monroe, who also had an affair with JFK, Heymann describes the actress's feelings towards the president, which has strong echoes in Monica Lewinsky's account of her relationship with President Clinton. He wrote: "In her depressive state [Monroe] began to fall in love with JFK. Besides telephoning Jack at the White House, she'd send him copies of her love poetry." When her relationship with both men turned sour, Heymann says, she realised that the Kennedys "use you then dispose of you" and vowed to "tell the world". Another Lewinsky parallel emerges in the claim from Kristi Witter, a 21-year-old micro-skirt-wearing newscaster when she met Bobby Kennedy. She said: "From the moment we met, I felt awestruck. I fell passionately in love with him." She claims that he agreed to find her a job at the White House. She says now: "I provided Bobby with relaxation . . . I helped him unwind." The claims by Heymann, who has written sensationalist biographies of Jackie Kennedy and Elizabeth Taylor, that Bobby Kennedy began a sexual relationship with his brother's widow just nine months after the president's assassination have been made before but never with such resolve. Heymann quotes alleged witnesses to rendezvous between the couple. Susan Pollock, a film producer, is quoted as saying: "My friend had a room opposite them in a hotel and saw them on two consecutive days go in to their room at night and leave together early in the morning. You can look at people and tell they've been intimate." A variety of other socialites and Kennedy aides tell of catching the couple kissing in a barn, groping on the beach, and having late night assignations at Jackie Kennedy's Manhattan home. Janet Villela, a ballerina, provided the story about finding Bobby Kennedy and Rudolf Nureyev locked in an embrace in a telephone box. Heymann says: "Besides that, Gore Vidal said that Rudi and Bobby had [shared a sexual relationship with] a sailor." 1 September 1998: Lewinsky wants œ6m for her Clinton story 8 August 1998: Lewinsky tells of 'intimacies' 2 January 1998: Kennedy son dies in high jinks on ski slope 2 January 1998: Dynasty bedevilled by tragedy 21 June 1997: Scandals stalk new Kennedy generation 22 August 1996: [Robert] Kennedy 'threatened to silence Marilyn Monroe'
