(Nasdaq: CDWI) today announced its plans to develop and launch an on-line community and electronic commerce site to sell pre-owned and new music compact discs (CDs) on the Internet. By implementing an IBM** e-business solution, CD Warehouse will launch the largest, pre-owned music CD commerce site on the Internet, just prior to the holiday shopping season. CD Warehouse plans to invest more than one million dollars to establish its on-line community and commerce site, which will be rolled-out in two phases. Consumers will find music selections easily with advanced search functions and enjoy the on-line community created by the chat rooms and bulletin boards. Behind the scenes, the solution will eventually combine the pre-owned inventory from more than 300 retail stores into a master database and route CD orders to the closest store with in stock inventory. Commerce will enable consumers to conduct searches and secure credit card transactions. IBM DB2 Universal Database will manage business and inventory data and multimedia content. MQSeries messaging software will manage the movement of order and inventory data between the 300 stores. IBM Global Services will build and deploy this new e-business solution and integrate it with CD Warehouse's existing business applications. IBM Global Web Solutions will provide content hosting at IBM server farm facilities on its RS/6000 family of servers.
