Thread, Reltec warned on September 8th (see message 2021 above), now it appears(?) CHNL is too. It's not much of a "warning." Maybe it was just to avoid being sued? Sure seems like I read of a lot of tech warnings that never turned out to be accurate. There seems to be a lot of positive news too (I didn't paste all of it in). But no matter what it says, I'm sure the headline will read, "WARNING." Channel is already beaten down bad, so it can't suffer a whole lot more, at least I hope not. MikeM(From Florida) _______________________________ First an editorial from Cousin Bob: November 10 -- We still are waiting for earnings announcements from a few of the names in my portfolio. Channell (CHNL) is supposed to report early next week. I expect it to be in line with the 28 cents per share estimate, which puts them on track to earn 95 cents per share for the year. This company is growing earnings between 15 and 20 percent, and yet it trades at less than 10 times this year's earnings projections. Remember that the company announced it intends to slow down capital expenditures next year, which should accelerate the company's bottom line. It is forecasted to earn $1.15 next year, but if its cost-cutting measures prove effective, this number could be conservative. *********** Now here's the warning(?): November 10th -- Commenting on the third quarter results, Bill Channell, Jr., President and Chief Operating Officer, said, ''While our broadband business in the third quarter was 104% of plan, we were unable to meet the Street's expectations due to slowness in the domestic telecom, Canadian, European and South Pacific business units. These combined operations were only 50% of revenue expectations in the third quarter. This slowdown should continue through first quarter 1999 and is attributable to order delays due to widespread industry merger/acquisition activity and customer technology decisions. International operations have also been affected by the general global economic slowdown. It is important to note that Egerton's international telephone business has remained constant and has been largely insulated from the international economic recession.''
