It's been happening from the early days of the Pentium Pro. NT is gaining market share vs. both UNIX and MVS. I saw a statistic that NT is now 2.2X MVS in terms of dollars spent for servers. Just five years ago, that would have been essentially zip. Sounds like penetration to me. I wonder if this guy is misquoted a lot, or if he really does come out with all the foolishness attributed to him.
