Yes, Dan's earlier post, and now yours, certainly provide food
for much thought. (Independent of the cache issue, which sounds
like a sneeze anyhow<g>.)

I hadn't thought seriously about overclocking, being more or less
in agreement with Sean on that subject, but this appears to
be a viable option. Heck, you could keep a SPARE processor
if you wanted to.

Please keep us posted.

(Notes on my in-progress system) I finally will be building my own system later this week--all the parts have been ordered. Config as follows:

Abit Bh6 retail board,Ensoniq PCI OEM sound card $142 shipped www.atacom.com/

In-Win Q500 full tower $81 shipped www.buyz.com

128 Kingston SDRAM $149 CompUSA

Maxtor 2880 5.7 gig drive $99 after rebate CompUSA

Boxed Celeron 266 $82 www.Buycomp.com

Matrox Mellenium g200 $114 www.Buycomp.com

Pioneer 24x SCSI CD-Rom $59 shipped onsale.com (still selling 'em)

Symbios Fast SCSI adapter (NCR 810 chipset) $34 shipped insight-electronics.com (the Award bios boards, like Asus and Abit, will boot these great cheap SCSI cards)

DEC-chip based 100/10 PCI Network card www.netlux.com $40 shipped

Other than mouse, keyboard and modem (which will be inherited from another system and which wouldn't be pricy anyway), this whole work machine will run cool and quite fast at 400 mhz and leave tons of expansion potential (both on the MB and in the case) for < $800.

Those who've read my posts in the past know that I've been I've been enthused about super 7 solutions. With the release of the BH6 board and the price drops on Celerons, I think the situation has changed for business-oriented users (probably for gamers/fiddlers also.) The bh6 board, aside from its great reviews and 5 PCI slots, has brackets that make installing a celeron easy and secure. This way, you get all the installed user base and upgrade path of the BX chipset for a price that's equal to or less than a modestly slower super-7 solution.

Questions or comments welcome. I should begin construction Friday, if the g200 card gets here by then.
