'Poor but Prosperous'-Atlantic Monthly piece on Kerala by Akash Kapur.

Hi Pravin:

Thank you very much for bringing this article in Atlantic Monthly on Kerala by Akash Kapur to our attention, excellent article indeed.

I believe Akash has very eloquently stated what I was trying to say to Anil and that is Kerala has achieved a lot in social development while ignoring the economic development of the state. My point is now that we know how to achieve social development and got the hang of it so to speak I belive it is high time Kerala turn the attention to the economic aspect of development.

I can understand the reluctance of the people to overly industrialize the state as this might destroy an otherwise pristine land so a better solution will be to develop and encourage less polluting enterprises which could still propel the state into economic self sufficiency and prosperity, examples will be -banking,insurance,tourism and hospitality, software, electronics, education & research, biotech, health care, agro business, and the like.

Anyway that is my 2 cents worth. Thanks again thanks for the great link.
