My understanding of the impeachment process:

The House Judiciary Committee drafts and votes on the Articles of Impeachment, which is similar to an indictment. There will be hearings, but I don't think the House will take fact witnesses and will simply let both sides present their cases.

The entire House votes on whether to approve of the articles of impeachment. If majority, then onto the Senate.

The Senate holds a trial with all the Senators sitting as a "jury." Chief Justice Rehnquist will preside as "judge." Henry Hyde will be "prosecutor" (but will almost certainly delegate this function to another person) (I'm not sure of this prosecutor part but that's what someone told me.) This will be a trial-like setting with witnesses appearing like Lewinsky, Currie, et al. I assume Clinton will be allowed to cross-examine witnesses, present his own evidence etc. 2/3rds of the Senate to impeach.

The open questions: Who will represent Clinton? Will Starr have a role now? Does the Congress have the stomach to carry this out?

Doughboy.

Jim,

Bald Man wanted me to answer this question. On Mars, when they impeach someone, they pull out all their hair and send them to Earth.

Isn't that what they do here on earth? Pull the hair (all of it) and send them to Mars?

By the way, history wasn't my strong suit but I'm sure it doesn't show. Sending a smile your way.
