"and there overall earnings momentum has hit the wall."

I can't really value an article when the author doesn't even know when to use "there" and "their". Briefing.com not too picky when it comes to their analysts?

Among the other inaccuracies in the briefing.com assessment, the earnings estimate, according to Zacks, has not changed in the last 90 days... for this quarter or next (.23). The 98 & 99 FY estimates have only varied by .01... 98 is down .01 to $1.14 and 99 is flat at $1.41.

At least that's what my source indicates. Any conflicting stats? Where do they get these people?

Roy

> In fact, the consensus estimate for ORCL for this quarter was $0.27 > one month ago

the 3-2 split happened a year ago ...

The author of this release reveals his ignorance & perhaps bias by beginning his prognostication with language the "once proud database software company Oracle (ORCL) has fallen on hard times recently," & then concluding that its "overall earnings momentum has hit the wall."

IMHO, this guy doesn't have a clue as to the de minimus significance of ORCL 1Q earnings regarding earnings growth going forward. It is common knowledge that ORCL's weakest Q is Q1. That is why earnings expectations for the Q do not project any measurable increase in earnings momentum. What a moron!

The foregoing is why, regardless of the name (in this case briefing.com) one cannot place any value on any article or commentary emanating from a website. One must read critically. And if one with modest knowledge of the software business & how sales are booked to income, & a little knowledge of ORCL's reporting practices reads this release, one will quickly come to the conclusion that the guy who wrote it has no idea what he's talking about.

Briefing.com has lots of errors including some already mentioned, and their statement "In the prior quarter ended in June." Don't they know the prior quarter ended in May? Unfortunately, this service has a wide draw and probably was good for a half point yesterday.
