We seem to be getting a bit OT on Clinton here. But let me say that here in Europe he is generally considered either a laughing stock or a disgrace and that despite the fact that most people don't really care about his affairs; though how anyone in his position would do what he did, certainly escapes me; it must be a kind of disease like alcoholism. I am just glad that we presently have no crisis that requires a strong leader of the Western world (not that I would want to underestimate the present situation in Russia; eerie silence there for two days running).

To return to the topic of the thread. How will this affect the market? I think that the worst thing would be that he fights the impeachment process, since this would imply that the U.S. will be without an effective government for a while. I think that this is quite likely; I don't see him resign at this stage. But will this just cause a weak market or can it trigger more than that?

It cannot be positive, but how negative will it really be?

Regards,

Phil
