I don't know. It may not be possible to add additional cache. We have to find out if the mobo/CPU supports additional cache. How important is speed? We have to chase down some CPU benchmarks to get a feel for the Cyrix speed. What is the intended use of your proposed machine?

My home use is now dominated by the Internet. ISP connections are a primary bottleneck for speed on the Internet. For general Internet use the CPU will not make much difference.

If you want to get into CPU intensive applications ( streaming data ? , graphics ) the CPU is more of a concern.

Did you see the machine Dave is putting together for $800?
