Mr Clinton is a smooth operator. He is like Hugh Grant after he was caught with his pants down. The best offensive is to be contrite and go on the "talk show circuit" and let the forgiving people be on his side. Slick Willie has no other options.

The real effect on the markets will be on the substance of the report. If impeachment is a real possibility, then a rudderless US will not be a good thing for the markets. The effect of a psychological nose-dive in the markets will have profound effects on investment and expenditures. It will also cause the US dollar to drop against foreign currencies and so render it less likely that we will see a rate cut.

Dell is always a high-flyer and we should expect that it will continue to go up and down between 50-65 over the next few weeks based on market psychology and world-events rather than fundamentals (unfortunately).
