JT; RE:" Kool Kars "

Read a road-test of the new Audi quatro TT coupe the other day. Very unique-looking; very "squat" and powerful, four-wheel-drive sports coupe; turbocharged - 1800cc transverse-mounted DOHC, 20-valve, 4-cylinder with over 200 BHP; 6-speed gearbox (!) Should be imported to TheStates next year, around $35K USD. Have you seen one of these, Jurgen ?

MadameGonzo likes the "Boxster", but she likes the 220hp, 700kg replica of the classic James Dean Porsche 550 "Spyder" even more. Wicked things! Vicious over-steer; tendency to overheat in traffic (Banzai California 2-liter VW engines) - like highly tuned motorcycles with four wheels. They cost about $25K USD; have no heater or top.

Popular in TheStates and U.K. are AC Cobra replicas (about $45K USD). Typically over-powered American iron, in the tradition of the Allard J2X. Some of these replicas are exquisite, with aluminium bodies and original blueprint-detail accuracy. Most are fiberglas bodies hung over ladder-steel frames; perhaps a Jag XKE rear end or, coil-over shocks. Stiff, but not likely to beat a little Lotus in the tight stuff. They rumble with that lumpy-cam, thump-thump 7-litre V-8 power; hunts for 'Vettes and turbo-Porsches down in Southern Cal on Saturday nights.

MadameGonzo really does want a Mercedes 190SL circa ~61 or so; heard her mention it to a friend near Munich the other day.

-Steve

Fellow Dudes, Folks can say what they wish, but for me the killer in the market "yesterday" was the warning by PG. The PG chart reflects the parabolic nature of most of the charts of the Big Boyz.

I show the lower monthly trend at about $48. For this pillar of the the consumer staples to tell us that they expect a growth in the "mid single digits" is a disaster when they sport a PE multiple of about 28 (even after the big decline). More bad news to follow!

We are early in this "warning's season" and for one of the pillar's of the modern run-up in stock prices to "warn" is definitely not good news. A couple more like this and the Market will be DOA.

Of course, BWDIK and all other disclaimers.
