Microsoft subpoenaes competitors

WASHINGTON, Sept 9 (Reuters) - Microsoft Corp. said on Wednesday it has issued broad subpoenas to some of its leading competitors, seeking evidence to defend itself in the government's landmark antitrust lawsuit against the software maker.

''Our discovery requests are asking for information about our competitors' efforts to collaborate with each other in attacking Microsoft,'' said Mark Murray, a spokesman for the Redmond, Wash., software firm. The firms subpoenaed are Netscape Communications (Nasdaq:NSCP - news), Sun Microsystems (Nasdaq:SUNW - news) , IBM (NYSE:IBM - news), Oracle (Nasdaq:ORCL - news) and Novell
(Nasdaq:NOVL - news) . >>>

Gosh, the usual five "suspects" are under a new subpoena by MSFT again. Frankly, this has moved beyond the bothersome stage to now the "irritant" degree. "attacking Microsoft"?????? Here we go again! ;-)

Regards,

QuadK

With a purchase that large, the price is usually negotiated. Options market makers are only required to fill market orders (hit the bid or ask) of 10 contracts or less.

My guess is one wouldn't sell calls naked unless you felt the calls were overpriced, indicating very bullish sentiment on the underlying stock.

I have not followed the options on NOVL, is there a large premium for calls?
