Clinton to Dems in Florida:

"I have no one to blame but myself for my self-inflicted wounds."

This is exactly the right thing to say and the right political strategy, now. Clinton is going to be apologizing everywhere, at any opportunity, until everyone is sick of it. I say, do a press conference tomorrow and apologize, apologize, apologize; take every question and let the White House press corps have the feeding frenzy of all feeding frenzies. The American public is generous in spirit and is willing to forget--and even if it weren't, scandal simply does not have the same whiff after its been aired for six months or however long it's going to take Congress to get around to this. Just imagine, we're going to be sitting around with the same charges hanging out there in March, 1999. The stock market will have finally rallied past 10,000. Mark McGwire will be hounded by reporters about whether he can break 70, two years in a row. March Madness will be underway. Spring is in the air. Is anyone going to be interested in this anymore? I think not. Clinton will outlast this--easily.
