Aki, ***OT,OT,OT*** Re:We live in dangerous times, to live above our means we have greedily pushed whole peoples into working poverty. Workers have always worked from a base of poverty until they united to force change. This is nothing new, but a continuation of historical precedence. Workers are willing to work for extremely low wages when there is no where else to get money to exist. In many cases what they earn is far better than what they could eek out as a farmer, or as one of the unemployed masses with a bare subsistence existence. Change in un-industrialized nations takes time, there is little/no overt wealth to support economic change for the better, for the masses. Is it exploitation? Yes, definitely, by our standards! But a fair question is, Does it improve the quality of life for the workers? In most cases I'd say yes, otherwise they wouldn't work, or would change their employment. Most of these countries have an unskilled/under-educated workforce with no upward mobility unless they get promotions to higher paying jobs at the factories where they work. Parity/equality in the world is non-sequitur, there will always be divisions of class/education/society/wealth, to think otherwise is irrational, IMO. I wish it weren't so coldly apparent, but unfortunately it is. In any case there is nothing anyone can do to change the situation as it stands, life goes on. One thing that has always impressed me about you, You are a man of opinion and conviction, even if I sometimes disagree. Re: AMAT and the semi-equip/markets I agree more downside to go for quite a while, IMO. It took years for the economics of the situation to get into this mess, it will take years to repair/re-establish the damage. Just my opinion, Regards! BB
