Why do you think I disagree with you? Sorry if I've been confusing, but you don't need to convince me. I already said that I don't think the market is a random walk. And if you re-read what I just said I wrote that the statistics used to support the random-walk theory by a professor of mine were sketchy because they were adjusted using definition of risk that I think is flawed.

You are preaching to the converted.

Although I do disagree with this:

"a stock that goes up wasn't risky, and one that went down was risky"

Risk is forward looking. Betting on a long-shot is risky whether you win or lose.
